The fourth and final weekend of the Celtic Tests produced a thrilling match between Wales and Australia, the perfect way to wrap up the Autumn International season. Wales got their only win of the year over a southern hemisphere side as Australia fell to their first defeat on the European leg of their tour.

The Celtic Tests come to an end this weekend with what looks to be the most competitive contest of the Autumn International season. Both teams need this win and both are prepared to play some rugby to get it, which should make for a fascinating encounter at Millennium Stadium.

The third weekend of the Celtic Tests produced a niggly affair between Ireland and Argentina, a cold, one-sided contest between Scotland and Canada, and a predictable outcome in the Wales vs. New Zealand fixture. Ireland secured a highly important win in Dublin in a match that lacked excitement but certainly not intensity, Scotland did their best to pass the Irish in the world rankings by thumping Canada on a snowy afternoon in Aberdeen, and Wales fell to New Zealand despite leading them at halftime in Cardiff.

Celtic Tests Week Three

The third weekend of the Celtic Tests promises a virtual replay of the first two weeks. One match should be very close, another will be relatively easy, and the third will be a blowout. Ireland vs. Argentina could very well go right down to the final minute with the outcome in doubt, Wales vs. New Zealand might remain close for a while before the All Blacks run up a large margin in the second half, and Scotland will probably dismantle Canada. Or the exact opposite could happen, either Ireland or Argentina might dominate the other, the Welsh could pull off a phenomenal upset, and Canada could shock the rugby world. The second scenario isn’t terribly likely but it sure would be fun to watch!
Celtic Tests - Week Two

Weekend number two of the Celtic Tests produced an unsatisfying victory for a second string Wales team, another close call for South Africa where they had to hang on late, and a relatively easy win for New Zealand after a tough first half. The shockingly ugly yellow-clad Dragons struggled to achieve dominance in the first forty against a fired-up Canada on Friday night in Cardiff, the Springboks had to overcome a 10-0 halftime deficit to beat a surprisingly tough Scotland in Edinburgh, and the All Blacks played their typical devastatingly clinical game after the break to knock off Ireland in Dublin.
